Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels
  • 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon of garlic powder or cheese powder for seasoning

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Large pot with lid
  • Stovetop
  • Measuring cups
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon

Instructions:

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add 3 popcorn kernels to the pot and cover it with the lid.
  • Once the kernels pop, add the remaining popcorn kernels to the pot and cover it again.
  • Shake the pot gently to ensure the kernels pop evenly and to prevent burning.
  • Listen for the popping to slow down, then remove the pot from the heat.
  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  • Pour the melted butter over the popped popcorn and sprinkle with salt.
  • Toss the popcorn gently to coat evenly with butter and salt.
  • If desired, sprinkle garlic powder or cheese powder for extra flavor and toss again.
