Ingredients:

  • 200g of red lentils
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 small piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • 400ml of coconut milk
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Pot
  • Stirring Spoon
  • Measuring Cups
  • Chopping Board
  • Knife

Instructions:

  • Rinse the red lentils under cold water and drain.
  • In a pot, sauté the chopped onion, garlic, ginger, and green chilies until the onions are translucent.
  • Add the cumin seeds and turmeric powder, and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the rinsed lentils and mix well with the sautéed ingredients.
  • Pour in the coconut milk and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the lentils are cooked and soft.
  • Season with salt to taste and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve hot, garnished with chopped coriander leaves.
